In Desk-Net, the planned content (stories) is primarily assigned to so-called platforms. Platforms answer the question: “Where do I intend to publish my stories?”
In the example above we see a story for which publications are planned on three different platforms.
Platform Setup
As a user with administrator rights, you can create platforms under "Settings > Platforms".
When creating a new platform, you have the following options:
- Name your platform and add a color if you wish. Currently, platform colours are only displayed on the Story List.
- Specify which groups should have access to this platform, or skip this step (the access rights can also be adjusted later).
- Select a publication rhythm. There are two available options:
-
- Every week: Weekly or several times a week.
For example, only every Monday and Tuesday or every Monday to Friday. - Manual setup: Select the publication dates manually and, if necessary, assign a label (e.g. "Issue 07"). These publication dates can also be added, changed and deleted subsequently.
- Every week: Weekly or several times a week.
Warning! After saving, it is no longer possible to switch between a weekly rhythm and manual schedule.
- Then click on 'Save & Add Detail Settings' to make further settings.
- Create categories for your platform. Categories divide platforms into individual planning areas (e.g. politics, sports, business).
- Categories can in turn be subdivided into sub-categories.
E.g. the category "Sport", into the sub-categories "Football", "Basketball", "Motorsport", etc.
- Categories can in turn be subdivided into sub-categories.
- Create types to label planned stories as, for example, a "Teaser" or a "Comment", independent of their categories.
- Under "Advanced Settings" you can subsequently adjust which groups should have access to this platform. However, the access rights can be defined in even more detail in the group settings. Read more about this here.
- You can also activate the Scope feature if you want to plan your publications for this platform e.g. in words or pages. Columns, lines, characters, mm and cm are also available options.
- On the "Integrations" tab, platform-specific connections with external systems can be set up. Some content management and digital asset management systems for which default integrations are already available are displayed. You can find more information on integrations here.
If you would like our assistance in setting up your platforms, you can enter your platforms, categories, etc. in the attached Excel file below and send it to support@desk-net.com.
We will then set up the platforms for you accordingly.
