Certain types of stories appear on a regular basis in your publication.
This can be a Sports column on Mondays or the Interview of the Week every Sunday, for instance. Similar in nature are series that have a defined start and end date.
Desk-Net allows you to easily enter such standing features or series.
How to enter a standing feature?
Enter a story and click on the publication date in the lower right hand corner. A layer opens with three options.
Select "Standing Feature" and enter the appropriate settings in the area that appears once you have made the click.
Save the story and you are done!
How to edit an existing standing feature?
Whenever you open a standing feature for editing Desk-Net will ask you whether you want to edit the standing feature or just one occurrence of the standing feature (or series).
Once you have removed an occurrence from the standing feature by editing it individually it is no longer part of the standing feature. Any change made to the standing feature will not be applied to the removed or individually edited occurrences.
Restrictions
In certain cases Desk-Net does not allow you to enter a standing feature. Largely this is due to logical conflicts between the recurring publication dates and other elements.
These are the main situations where you cannot enter a standing feature or where you cannot enter other attributes once you have entered the data for the standing feature:
- If there is an event/appointment associated with the story you cannot enter a standing feature
- Once you have entered the data for a standard feature you cannot define a deadline for the tasks
- You cannot have the story assigned to more than one publication channel once it is a standing feature
